iSierra Online Academy - General Information

  • Thank you for your interest in iSierra Online Academy's Summer Independent Study Program.

iSierra offers an experience in which students work in their course(s) completely online. Independent Study students will meet with their assigned Supervising Teacher once per week in a virtual classroom (either Zoom or Google Meet) for a required progress appointment, and with their course teacher once per week in a virtual classroom for proctored, course tests.

Upon enrollment into our program, students will complete a virtual orientation which will show them how to complete and submit coursework in our learning management system, Apex.    Students will work on, complete, and submit all of their coursework from home, or anywhere they have an internet connection, but they will take unit tests in a supervised/proctored setting.

Students must earn at least one academic credit each week in order to remain enrolled in the program. This will take approximately 5 hours per day, 4 days per week to accomplish.

     Please note:

    • The summer session runs for 6 weeks, and students can earn a maximum of 15 credits during this time.
    • Once students have earned all of their desired/assigned credits, they are done with summer school.
    • The summer session is from Tuesday, June 1st to Thursday, July 8th.
    • Students will be assigned a regularly scheduled appointment, once per week: Mon, Tues, Wed, or Th, between the hours of 8 am and 12 pm.

To enroll in the iSierra Online Academy's summer session, you must be referred to one of the three categories below. If you are in category 1 and have not been referred or are not sure, please contact your Supervising Teacher.  If you are in category 2 or 3 and have not been referred, or are not sure, please contact your school counselor.  If you are an 8th grade student and/or from a school outside the Fullerton Joint Union High School District; or none of these categories apply, but you wish to discuss enrollment, please contact Ms. Renee Gates (rgates@fjuhsd.org) for assistance.

    Thank you.
