La Sierra Opportunity Program Summer School 2024 - Information and Enrollment
-
Welcome to La Sierra High School and the Opportunity Program.
Your student was identified for the Opportunity Program by the comprehensive school team based on credits earned and current class grades. Students will join La Sierra High School for our summer school program for 6 weeks, beginning Monday, June 3rd through Thursday, July 11th, 7:45 am to 1:00 pm. Each student will be enrolled in three classes and can earn up to 15 credits.
-
Buses will pick up and drop off at the usual bus stops.
-
Attendance is critical for student success. Students will be dropped if they miss more than two days in each class.
If you would like to participate in our program, please contact the La Sierra High School counselor, Laura Medina, at lmedina@fjuhsd.org
The La Sierra High School 10th-Grade Opportunity Program serves District students who are too far behind in credits to graduate on time. Every one of these approximately 200 students needs to attend summer school. During summer, these at-promise students can earn more units in the Opportunity Program than they can earn at a comprehensive high school. In addition, summer is a time to orient new students to the campus and culture and to administer reading and math tests that assess learning loss and placement into appropriate intervention classes in the fall.
