Mr. Gary Day

Who is the  Assistant Principal? What is his background? These are questions that people like to know about their school's Assistant Principal, and so here is some information about myself.  I am a native Southern Californian, raised in Whittier, and I have lived in So. Cal. all of my life.  My educational journey has taken me through many college campuses, including: Whittier College, Rio Hondo Community College and California State University, Fullerton.   I have worked in several different school districts. They are-CovinaValley Unified School District, Whittier Union High School District, Glendora Unified School District, Brea Olinda Unified School District and Fullerton Union High School District.  I have been in FJUHSD since 2002, and been in administration since 1997.  In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my wife, Lynn, our 5 kids, Aubrey 24, McKenzie 21, Michael 18, Delaney 15 and Alex 13.  I am also enjoying our first grandkid, Alexander. You will find me on most weekends watching my kids play soccer.  I was raised in a home where my mother always emphasized the importance of education.  I have always enjoyed working in the educational field and find it invigorating to work with students and teachers here at La Vista/La Sierra HS.  It is an exciting time to be part of the educational landscape as we are redefining what it takes to prepare our youth to be productive global citizens of the 21st century. Please feel free to come by and introduce yourself; my office door is always open!
