  • Welcome to Troy High School

I would like to take this opportunity to welcome all of our students and their families to the 2016-17 school year at Troy High School! I would like to extend a special welcome to our incoming 9th graders and their families. To all our students, but especially our incoming 9th graders, Troy High School is a very special place. This is a school of excellence, and one that has opportunities for every student to prepare for productive futures in college and career. But, I suspect you and your parents have done your research and you are here to be part of the Troy educational experience, and part of the Troy family!

We are so excited to begin this year and all the promise it brings for our students. Our school has once again been recognized as one of the top STEM schools in the nation with a #10 national ranking from U.S. News and World Report for 2016. Not content to rest upon our laurels, we have continued to improve our instructional program with improvements to our facilities. For example, this summer we have added a robust Wi-Fi system throughout the entire Troy campus, which will allow for every student to be able to use multiple devices. We are very excited incorporate this additional technology into our instruction, and we have looked forward  to this opportunity for a few years having begun the groundwork in earnest last year.

Other summer construction projects have included the addition of two new classrooms, new furniture for a number of classrooms, newly painted classrooms in the 300 and 500 buildings, landscaping improvements, additional student computers / Chromebooks, improvements to the engineering facility, relocation of the bus drop off, and additional parking for students in the South parking lot.

We also look forward to the construction about to begin on our new aquatic complex with anticipated completion for summer, 2017. This is only the tip of the iceberg with modernization of our gyms, library, performing arts building, track, and athletic fields, all on the near horizon. All these changes will make Troy a better home away from home for all of our students and will allow for even greater students’ performance and opportunities in preparation for their future!

As part of the Troy family there are many people available to help you reach your dreams. All of us share the same belief that Troy High School is special and this is why all of us are here. At Troy there is no substitute for hard work and there are no shortcuts, but you will find academic, athletic, and social support from enthusiastic staff members, and fellow students. We all work together toward the goal that everyone succeeds and nobody is left behind. We are a family and that is what a good family does for its members.

Working together, we will ensure Troy continues to be the place in which all our students bring their dreams to life. I welcome the opportunity to meet and get to know our new students and families and I look forward to another year continuing to build relationships with our returning students and families.

Welcome to Troy High School, and “Go Warriors!”

    William V. Mynster, Ph.D.
