This week is Computer Science Education Week! The first computer science education week was recognized in 2009 during the week of Grace Hopper’s birthday. Grace Hopper invented the first computer and coined the term “bug” (an error in a program) after removing an actual moth from a computer in 1947. In January of 2015, the Hour of Code reached 100 million “hours served,” making the Hour of Code and CS Education Week the largest education campaign in history. Join the computer science students on Thursday, December 8 in room 42 at lunch to celebrate computer science education week with food, fun and prizes.

The Pathways to Hope foundation needs your help. They are amazing people that want to assist those in need in our city, but they need some help in getting the supplies. Next week we will be having another in-class fundraiser during second period to help them out. All donations make a difference. The most generous class will receive donuts! Do you have any jackets or sweatshirts that you never use? Are they taking up too much of your room? If so, donate them to a good cause! The Pathways to Hope foundation will deliver these donations to people in need throughout fullerton. You have the opportunity to help people stay warm this winter. Starting Monday next week, you can put your donations in the bins in front of the stairs during lunch or before first period. Whichever class donates the most will be announced during the winter assembly and get points for the battle of the classes!!

Your Generation Up and GSA club will be holding a fundraiser event in the Quad after school this Wednesday. They will be selling donuts, bracelets, and phone charms. All profits will be donated to the Trevor Project, a nonprofit organization focused on suicide prevention for queer and trans youth. Make sure to check them out this Wednesday!
