• UC Admission Requirements

    In order to be eligible to attend any school in the University of California (UC) or the California State University (CSU) systems as a freshman, you must take certain classes in high school. These classes are known as the "A-G Subjects:"

    A. History/Social Science - 2 years
    One year of US History or one-half year US History and one-half year of Civics
    or American Government; one year of world history/Cultures/Geography
    B. English - 4 years required
    College Preparatory English Composition and Literature
    C. Mathematics - 3 years required, 4 recommended
    Three years of college preparatory mathematics that includes
    Algebra,Geometry and Algebra 2.
    D. Laboratory Science - 2 years required, 3 recommended
    Two years of laboratory science, including two of the three fundamental
    disciplines of Biology, Chemistry and Physics.
    E. Foreign Language - 2 years required, 3 recommended
    Two years of the same Foreign Language
    F. Visual and Performing Arts - 1 year required
    One year including Art, Music, Theatre, or Dance Production
    G. College Preparatory Electives - 1 year required
    Additional Year chosen from the University of California "A-G" list
      
    Additional Information
    • Minimum GPA of 3.0 (Impacted campuses or programs require higher qualifications)
    • AP/IB courses receive an extra grade point for grades 10 and 11 (8 semesters maximum, no more than 4 semester courses in grade 10)
    • Filing period is November 1-30
    • Personal Statement is required
    • Letter of Recommendation is not required or accepted

    Tests required:
    - SAT Reasoning Test or ACT with Writing
    - SAT Subject tests are not required, but recommended.
