2016-17: Students and Staff Participate in a California Coastal Clean-up

Coastal Cleanup Day
Saturday, September 17, 2016

40 students and staff came out to Huntington Beach to participate in the California Coastal Cleanup Day on Saturday September 17th.  ASB, GSA, and science students all participated in the first community service project of the year.

This was the largest volunteer event in the world (estimated 800,000 people across the world participated). The Surfrider Foundation reported that we removed over 60,000 pounds of trash from Southern California beaches.

This is an annual event which occurs on the third Saturday in September each year, and thousands of volunteers clean up along more than 2,000 miles of coastal and inland shoreline.
