SAT/ACT
  • SCHOLASTIC ASSESSMENT TEST (SAT)

The SAT is an entrance exam used by most four year colleges and universities to make admissions decisions. The SAT has three sections: Math, Critical Reading and Writing. The Writing section requires test takers to complete an essay that is factored into the final score. Each section is scored on a 200 to 800 point scale, with a total possible score of 2400. Most students take the SAT for the first time during the spring of their junior year and a second time during the fall of their senior year. The SAT is offered 7 times per year in October, November, December, January, March, May and June.

    AMERICAN COLLEGE TEST (ACT)

The ACT is an entrance exam used by most four year colleges and universities to make admissions decisions. The ACT has four sections: English, Reading, Math, and Science, as well as an optional 30-minute writing test. Some schools may require the writing test, so be sure to ask before you register for the ACT. You will earn one ACT score (1 to 36) on each test (English, Reading, Math, and Science) and a composite ACT score, which is an average of these four tests. The composite score falls between 1 and 36. The ACT is offered nationally every year in September, October, December, February, April and June.
