Work Permits may be obtained from the Guidance Office (room 10) during the school year and from the Summer School Secretary during the summer. Students with poor attendance may be refused Work Permits & may be revoked by the school for attendance reasons.
The first step in the Work Permit process is to pick up an application form and submitting it to your future employer for completion. The application is then returned to the guidance office. The official work permit is then processed by the La Habra High School Guidance Secretary. Students can pick up their official work permit in room 10 upon completion.
Work hours for minors are limited both in total hours and length of hours, particularly on school nights. Fourteen and fifteen year olds may work no more than 18 hours a week during the school year, no more than 3 hours a day, and not after 7:00 p.m.
Sixteen and seventeen-year-olds may work no more than 28 hours a week during the school year, and not more than 4 hours a day, and not after 10:00 p.m. Rules for summer allow more hours. For more specific information, please see the Guidance Secretary.
