The California Department of Education has released its new California Accountability Model which allows stakeholders an opportunity to access online school and student performance information. This online portal, The California School Dashboard, is an interactive website intended to provide a user-friendly environment for the public to access a quick overview of how a school or a district is doing, or to analyze deeper subgroup performance. This has been a five-year project in the making; it provides a wide-range of performance indicators, rather than simple test scores to indicate school success. The dashboard is still undergoing some changes, and not all the indicators have been included at this time. For example, the “Chronic Absenteeism Indicator” and “College Career Indicator” are being worked and are anticipated to be released in November 2017.
