The Board selects and employs a Superintendent of Schools to administer the educational program within controlling laws and local district policy, which is set by the Board. The Board acts upon recommendations made by the Superintendent, including the ratification of the employment of staff.
Each May the District Student Advisory Council elects one District student to be recommended for appointment to the Board of Trustees for a term of one year commencing on July 1 of the year. Even though a Student Board Member may graduate in June, the term of office shall be from July 1 to June 30. The preferential voting Student Board Member shall have the right and duty to attend all meetings of the Board of Trustees, except Closed Session.
Meetings of the Board of Trustees occur once a month except where two Board meetings will be held in the month of June. A tentative date will be set for a second meeting in February. Unless otherwise specified, all Regular Sessions are held at 6:00 p.m. in the Education Center Board Room, located at 1051 West Bastanchury Road, Fullerton, California. Special meetings are called, when necessary, at a time and place announced in advance.
The agenda and back-up material is available for review on the District Website and at the District Office prior to Board meetings. Meeting minutes record all actions taken by the Board.
