Looney was the first football coach at Buena Park, compiling a 29-27-7 record from 1957-1963. Looney’s ’63 team featured tailback Jim Lawrence, who helped the Coyotes capture the Freeway League title. Looney was selected Orange County coach of the year while Lawrence, the player of the year, went on to play at USC.
Buena Park Football has grown recently into one of the top programs in Orange County. Coach Anthony White took over the program in 2012.
