Work Permit Instructions

Work Permits may be obtained from Ms. Saldaña or Ms. Reyna in room 20 during the school year and from the Summer School Secretary during the summer. Students with poor attendance may be refused Work Permits & may be revoked by the school for attendance reasons.
The first step in the Work Permit process is to pick up an application form and submitting it to your future employer for completion. There is a section for the student, parent/guardian, and the employer to fill out. The application is then returned to the Career and College Center (room 20, to Ms. Saldaña or Ms. Reyna . The official work permit is then processed; grades and attendance are checked. If approved, Ms. Roman will email you your actual work permit to start working. Students can also pick up their official work permit in room 10 upon completion.Work hours for minors are limited both in total hours and length of hours, particularly on school nights. Fourteen and fifteen year olds may work no more than 18 hours a week during the school year, no more than 3 hours a day, and not after 7:00 p.m.
Sixteen and seventeen-year-olds may work no more than 28 hours a week during the school year, and not more than 4 hours a day, and not after 10:00 p.m. Rules for summer allow more hours. For more specific information, please see the Guidance Secretary.
